Now, we have a new map type on Google Maps — Terrain.
Similar to Relieaf Map added to ONGMAP couple of weeks ago, Terrain map

give a better sense of elevation changes than a satellite image alone

GeoNames founder opens up the GIS world
GeoNames is one of my most favorite geo-APIs. It’s very useful, fast, and free! At ONGMAP.COM, I’m using GeoNames API to geocode, reverse geocode, and find Wikipedia articles (with lat/lng).
All developers who deals with maps and geo-data should know about GeoNames.

BTW, maybe I should switch my DB to Postgres […]
